RENT The Musical Celebrates 30 Years with Intimate, Immersive Production Directed by Original Broadway Cast Member

Director Rodney Hicks Reimagines A Radical Love Story That Changed Musical Theater and Sparked a Generation of AIDS Awareness

 

Ballyhoo Table & Stage is proud to announce a bold, fresh take on RENT, the Pulitzer Prize– and Tony Award–winning musical, running for a very limited engagement July–August 2026. This production commemorates the 30th anniversary of Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking work that forever changed musical theater and continues to resonate across generations.

This special anniversary staging is directed by award-winning artist Rodney Hicks a member of RENT’s original and closing Broadway casts, (also Original Broadway casts Come From Away, The Scottsboro Boys), bringing unparalleled authenticity and deep personal connection to the material. Music direction by acclaimed music director and composer, (Great American Trailer Park Musical) David Nehls, whose prolific work brings renewed energy and emotional depth to Larson’s iconic score. The production is presented by award-winning Give 5 Productions, (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) with Julia Tobey serving as Executive Producer.
